This weeks race for the Pro's at iRSRL in the Mixed Oval Series was held at Daytona. The drivers would prepare for a 90 lap event. Practice times would put Michael Tessar up front on the speed charts followed by series new commer Thomas Conheady. When it came to the qualifing session it was a complteley different story. Marc would find himself on the pole followed closely by Beernuts driver Steve Ritter completeing the front row.

Daytona is a tighter and bumpier track than last weeks Talladega and drivers were warned to give room, hold your line and if you exit T1 and cause a wreck there will be hell to pay. The seventeen drivers that made the trip this week paid heed to this message well. The race went green until lap 87 of the scheduled 90. Just as last weeks race the green flag pits seperated the drivers and put them into a few different groups working together to try and make time on the lead pack.

The first pack at the start of the race was Marc, Mike Kelley, Randy Tessar, Dave, and Rick Thompson, along with a few others. Steve Ritter would have a throttle flutter on the first lap putting him behind the curve early on. Fortunatly for him he had a strong Beenuts powerplant under the hood and was able to pull back up. Most drivers would go until lap 35 to lap 55 before pitting. The lead group would get seperated while pitting. Marc, Mike and Randy pitted together and one of the drivers would miss his pit. Possibly dissoriented by all the action on pit road or maybe his crew chief didnt count him down. Thompson and Holzwarth stayed out so Dave could get his bonus points for leading. Both drivers had a great entrance but Holzwarth's crew was a tick faster getting him out and would loose his drafting partner. Much to his suprise as Dave was getting up to speed the leaders just happened to be coming by. The three lead drivers would hook up single file and draft close and open the gap up from the cars behind them.

There were two smaller packs racing to become one bigger pack. The third pack leader Conheady would tow the cars up to the second pack. This surprised the second pack and made them stand up and take notice.

Just when all the drivers thought it was going to go green to the end two drivers would go for the same piece of track bringing out the only caution. Thompson and Gay would meet and cause a three or four car wreck. Just as the caution flag was waving the 2nd and 3rd place cars of Kelley and Holzwarth were getting ready to see if they could team up on race dominator Wulf. Randy Tessar and Ron Costin were up front with the lead pack and racing for position between themselves. It was shaping up to be quite a finish all over the track. Conheady had worked himself from back in the third pack to finish in fourth leading the second pack. Jeff Bottolfson brought his car home in 5th. Congratulations to Marc Wulf on his wining his first race out with the League. Thanks for all who came out for the fun and we hope to see you next week.
